Man arrested over Sheffield attack that left Tyson Mahmood fighting for his life

The 27-year-old is being held on suspicion of assault and is currently in police custody.

He is in a coma and his condition is still critical today.

Yesterday, a 27-year-old man was arrested by police on suspicion of assisting an offender.

He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A 31-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender earlier in the police probe remains on police bail pending further enquiries.

There has been a huge outpouring of support for the victim on social media since the attack, with people across the city willing him to survive.

Anyone with information about the incident should South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 720 of September 19.
