Officers say they arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a number attacks on vehicles in the south west of Sheffield.

The arrest follows a series of incidents on Carter Knowle Road and Montrose Road in Nether Edge, where vehicles have been damaged by acid.

Large amounts of paint stripper were poured over two vehicles and windows of the vehicles and the family’s home were also smashed in the incident.

Sergeant James Marshall from the Sheffield South West Neighbourhood Team said: “We are continuing to appeal for information about these incidents, which I know have caused real concern in the area.

“As well as the arrest made yesterday, we have seized a significant amount of materials, including CCTV footage, that we will now be reviewing as part of the investigation.

“I would continue to appeal to anyone who has information to contact us, especially people living on these roads who might have CCTV footage of the incidents. Even small bits of footage could help us with our enquiries.”

The 29-year-old has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
