Man arrested after crash in Sheffield involving stolen delivery driver's car

A man was arrested after a crash in a stolen delivery driver’s car in Sheffield – 15 minutes after the vehicle was taken.

A 19-year-old woman was delivering parcels in Millhouses at around 9.30am on Friday, March 19 when she was approached by a man who grabbed her keys and stole her car.

Around 15 minutes later the car crashed into a lamppost on Batemoor Road, Batemoor.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent and released under investigation in relation to the offence.

But he remained in police custody yesterday relation to other unconnected offences.

South Yorkshire Police said: “It is reported that the victim, a 19-year-old woman, had been delivering parcels when she was approached by a man who took her car keys from her hand before driving the car away.

“The car was found around 15 minutes later by a member of the public having crashed into a lamppost on Batemoor Road.”
