LIVE updates as cops lift High Green cordon - but say probe into potentially explosive substances to continue
We’ll be bringing you all of the latest developments in the ongoing incident in High Green
Police have tonight lifted a cordon centred around a house in High Green, allowing residents to return home.
The update comes more than 24 hours after 70 homes were evacuated, as part of an ongoing investigation into “potentially explosive substances” at a home on Mapplebeck Road.
Police and bomb disposal experts have been working at the scene - a house on Mapplebeck Road since Friday (September 11.)

Yesterday, the decision was made to evacuate homes in the area, as a 100-metre cordon was placed around property on Mapplebeck Road.
It followed the discovery of “additional items” in a concealed area in the property, Assistant Chief Constable Ian Proffitt, of South Yorkshire Police, said this afternoon (Wednesday, September 16, 2026).
As police confirm residents are now free to return to their homes, the explosives investigation is set to continue.
