“As a precaution, we're reminding residents how to check the identity of anyone claiming to be from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue”
South Yorkshire’s firefighters have given advice on how to ensure any house visitors are genuinely from the service - after they had equipment stolen.
The announcement has been released after a fire kit - including things like a fire blanket and fire extinguisher - were stolen from one of the fire service’s vehicles.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We're aware that genuine fire kit has recently been stolen from one of our vehicles.
“As a precaution, we're reminding residents how to check the identity of anyone claiming to be from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.”
They have advised people to ask for the ID badge of anyone claiming to be an official crew.
They have also said that all crews should arrive in marked vehicles.
“If you're ever unsure, call us on 0114 253 2314 to confirm before letting anyone in,” they went on to say.
“This has been reported to South Yorkshire Police. If you're offered fire service kit for sale, or have any information, please contact them on 101.”
