Detectives investigating the stabbing believe 30-year-old Ahmed Farrah, also known as ‘Reggie,’ could hold vital information but he has gone to ground.

Police appeals for him to come forward have been ignored and a £5,000 Crimestoppers reward for information leading to his arrest has failed to work.

Officers have also visited all his known friends, relatives and acquaintances and served harbouring notices warning that anyone helping to shield him faces prosecution.

Farrah, who has links to Broomhall, was captured on CCTV at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital’s minor injuries clinic on the same night that Kavan was stabbed.

He returned to the hospital the following day but then disappeared from Sheffield.

Farrah was treated for facial injuries believed to have been sustained in the incident in which Kavan was stabbed.

The last confirmed sighting of Farrah was in Cardiff last September.

Four men – Derice Cohen and Ethan Hallows, both 18; Travis O’Grady, 19 and Jason Baker, 29 – have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery as part of the investigation into the murder but nobody has been charged over the death.

Anyone with information about the incident or Farrah’s whereabouts should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 827 of August, 14, 2018.
