Officers patrolling the Arbourthorne area last night stopped a car on the estate and two occupants ran off.
After a brief chase, one man was found and searched.
He was found to be carrying a knife, which was hidden in his jogging bottoms.
He was arrested and spent last night in police custody.
No other details on the case have yet been released.
