Khuram Javed murder: Everything we know after Sheffield solicitor shot dead in street

Who was killed?

Khuram Javed, aged 30, was gunned down.

When was the shooting?

He was shot at around 9.40pm on Saturday, April 10.

Where was the killing?

He was killed in an attack on Clough Road, close to Bramall Lane.

Has any possible motive been disclosed?

Detectives investigating the shooting have not yet disclosed any possible motive for the attack. South Yorkshire Police said the investigation is still in its ‘early stages’ but ‘enquiries continue at pace’.

What is known about the murder victim?

Mr Javed was a married father-of-two, with a young son and daughter.

He was a University of Sheffield graduate and worked as a solicitor for Sheffield law firm Alison Law Solicitors.

Mr Javed worked for the firm for four years, with 18 months spent as a pracitising solicitor after qualifying.

What tributes have been paid to him?

Colleagues described him as a ‘beloved and hard working staff member with a bright future ahead of him’.

They said was ‘an amazing, loyal and great man’ and also described him as’ talented and honourable’ .

What did police find at the crime scene?Mr Javed was found critically injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man, aged 31, who was also injured in the shooting was taken to hospital for treatment.

What police activity has taken place?

A huge police cordon was instantly erected to preserve the crime scene and a tent and screen were also used.

Forensic experts were drafted in to examine the crime scene, which was kept under police guard over the weekend.

Detectives are piecing together the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with the examination of CCTV footage in and around crime scenes routine practice.

Have any arrests been made?

No updates have been provided by South Yorkshire Police today but as of last night, no arrests had been made.

What has South Yorkshire Police said about the shooting?

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Hakin said: “The investigation is still in its early stages, but our enquiries continue at pace. A significant number of officers remain in the area.

“I am acutely aware that this incident may be distressing to the local community. Please be assured that we have deployed additional resources to the area, and our specialist team continues to carry out enquiries to locate those responsible.

“They are there to help and support you.”

Have detectives issued any appeals?

They want to hear from witnesses or any motorists with dashcams who were driving in the Bramall Lane/ Clough Road area on the night of the shooting.
