South Yorkshire Police said: “It is understood that the teenagers, believed to be 17-years-old, were assaulted by persons unknown on The Moor Sheffield.

“Their injuries are not life-threatening.

“An investigation is under way into the circumstances.”

The attack led to police officers taping off an area of The Moor on Saturday night while crime scene investigative work was carried out.

CCTV cameras on and around The Moor are expected to be examined for footage of the incident or those involved.

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident 745 of June 6.
