A red Toyota Yaris was written off and three other vehicles, including a van used to transport disadvantaged children, were badly damaged in the collision which happened on Wortley Road in High Green yesterday, Friday, November 7, at around 5pm.

Paul Thorpe, whose personal van and work van were damaged in the crash, just outside his home, said one witness had seen two men who appeared to be drunk or on drugs run off after the collision.

"They’ve hit my neighbour’s car with such force the wheel’s been left embedded in the wall outside my house,” he said.

“It’s amazing no one was killed or seriously injured. There was a lad parked up in a white Transit which was hit, and there are usually lots of schoolchildren and parents with prams walking along the street at that time.
