Chris Durrans and his wife Debby were sleeping at their home on Vicarage Road in Grenoside when their car and house were set alight at around 1.30am on Saturday, November 7.

Thankfully the pair, who have run The Angel pub on nearby Main Street for 12 years, were not injured in the attack, but their £90,000 BMW X7 was destroyed and their house was badly damaged.

They are determined to catch whoever is responsible, and have offered a £10,000 reward for any information leading to a successful prosecution.

“We were sleeping when it happened, and I don’t know if it was the bang from the petrol being lit or the shadow from the flames through the window that woke me,” said Mr Durrans, 58.

"It’s terrifying. If we hadn’t been woken we probably wouldn’t be here to tell the tale.”

Mr Durrans believes the arson attack may be linked to a red Audi A3 being set alight close to their pub on Main Street on the evening of Thursday, November 5.

“I don’t know who would have done this. We don’t have any enemies, we’ve just got hundreds and thousands of friends from our normal life and our pub life, and the phone hasn’t stopped ringing since 2am this morning,” he said.

“We will find out very, very shortly who’s done this, because we know that many people. They will get found out.”

Anyone with information can call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
