Hunt for Sheffield gunman continues after police release details of SEVENTH shooting in city this year

Violence flared on Queens Road, Heeley, on Thursday night and an 18-year-old man was shot in his leg during a fight involving a number of men.
He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remained there last night while the hunt for his attacker continued.

Hide AdSouth Yorkshire Police are treating the shooting, which happened close to Halfords, as a ‘targeted’ attack.
The force said a ‘significant number’ of officers were deployed to the crime scene and surrounding area in the aftermath of the shooting for searches and forensic work.
Additional officers have been brought in to work in the area over the weekend as the hunt for the gunman continues.
Superintendent Simon Verrall said: “I am acutely aware that news of this incident may spark some concern from the local community, this is a serious incident which has happened on one of the main routes into our city.

The shooting is the seventh so far this year which South Yorkshire Police has released details on.
Earlier this month two men were injured in a gun attack in Ashpool Close, Woodhouse.
A gun was fired at around 10.40pm on Friday, March 5 and blood stains could be seen on the ground and wall outside one of the houses in the street where the injured men were found.

Hide AdA few days earlier, on Monday, March 1, two men were shot in an incident on Cowley Gardens, Westfield.
On Sunday February 28 shots were fired at a vehicle on Yew Lane, Ecclesfield.
Ten days earlier, on Thursday, February 18, a gun was fired at a house on Dore Road, Dore – one of the most exclusive streets in Sheffield.
A window was damaged in the gun attack.
On Wednesday, January 6 there were two shootings on the Manor estate in the space of an hour.

Hide AdA gun was fired towards homes on Castledale Croft and Prince of Wales Road and injuries were reported.
