Homes and supermarket suffer power cut after ‘loud explosion’ in Sheffield suburb

Concerns have been expressed over the sound of an explosion and then a power cut in a Sheffield suburb this morning.

Residents in Handworth have turned to Facebook to try to establish what the explosion was and to discuss a power outage.

They claim to have heard the explosion near to the Handsworth and Richmond allotments.

House and car alarms are reported to have been triggered.
