Homes and supermarket suffer power cut after ‘loud explosion’ in Sheffield suburb

Concerns have been expressed over the sound of an explosion and then a power cut in a Sheffield suburb this morning.

Residents in Handworth have turned to Facebook to try to establish what the explosion was and to discuss a power outage.

They claim to have heard the explosion near to the Handsworth and Richmond allotments.

House and car alarms are reported to have been triggered.

Handsworth and Woodhouse residents have reported electricity issues and there is said to have been a power cut at Asda.
