High Green: Helpline number set up by council for Sheffield residents evacuated from homes
Residents have been evacuated from their homes in High Green
A helpline has been set up by Sheffield Council for residents evacuated from their homes in High Green.
Sheffield City Council released details of the number this morning after residents were ordered out of their homes on safety grounds yesterday.
Police and an army bomb disposal squad are at a house on Mapplebeck Road this morning and a 100 metre cordon is in place as a safety precaution.
There has been a police presence on the street since last Friday but the situation escalated yesterday and residents were evacuated.
South Yorkshire Police said today: “Residents affected by the evacuation who require support should contact Sheffield City Council on 0114 293 0111.”
Road closures are in place on Mapplebeck Road, Griffiths Road, School Road, Worrall Road, Beechwood Road, Hawthorne Road, Entwhistle Road and Greenwood Road.

Residents whose homes are within the cordon have been warned by police that officers are expected to remain there for the rest of the day.
Sheffield Council said it is working closely with South Yorkshire Police, emergency services and partner organisations, but “the situation remains ongoing” and they “advise that the cordon remains in place while specialist work is carried out”.
No injuries have been reported.
