Some mourners wore specially printed T-shirts emblazoned with Danny’s name.

A number of quad bikes were also involved.

His devastated mum, Christine, 51, said: “There was a good turnout and he got the send-off we wanted for him but we should never have been in a position where we had to organise his funeral. It is heartbreaking.

“We still all miss him and are trying to come to terms with what happened. All we want now is justice once the investigation is complete.”

Christine, a doting grandmother, said she is now waiting for her daughter, Kirsty, to give birth.

The baby, due any day, is expected to to be named after Danny as a tribute to the much loved family man.

Two men have been charged with Danny’s murder – Daniel Chadwick, 29, of Melville Drive, Manor and Ross Turton, 29, of Danewood Avenue, Manor.

Anyone with information about the murder should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and quote incident number 29 of April 17.
