Danny Irons funeral: Heartbroken family and friends form procession through Sheffield

A hearse carrying Danny Irons’ coffin led the cortege through Sheffield from Hackenthorpe, where the 32-year-old’s mum lives, to City Road Crematorium this morning.
Police officers anticipating a huge turn out, warned motorists in advance to expect delays along the route.

Hide AdThe hearse, filled with floral tributes including one spelling out ‘son’, was followed by some mourners on quads and a number of others in cars.
Many of those paying their respects to Danny wore specially printed T-shirts, with ‘RIP Danny’ emblazoned across the back.
The revving of engines and beeping could be heard along the route.
The funeral cortege arrived at City Road crematorium in torrential rain as mourners made their way inside for the service.

Hide AdDanny was stabbed to death on Fretson Green, Manor, in the early hours of Saturday, April 17.
The attack occurred just yards away from a children’s playground used by local families.
Ahead of his funeral, his heartbroken mum, Christine, 51, said: “He was the kindest and most loving person you could ever meet. He would do anything for anybody.”
Ahead of the funeral service, tributes were paid online, with Sharon Dunraven posting: “R.I.P Danny boy, will be missed by many, god bless you sweetheart.”
Jason Chappell added: “R.I.P Danny, u were top lad.”
