Hamza Hussain: Driver, 22, pleads guilty to killing 18-year-old in crash on Sheffield's St Mary's Gate
A Sheffield man was told he “will” go to prison after today admitting to killing an 18-year-old by dangerous driving.
Sheffield’s busy St Mary’s Road, near Bramall Lane roundabout, was shut for hours following the single-car collision involving a VW Golf shortly before 2am on June 17, 2024.

18-year-old Mohammed Waheed suffered fatal injuries in the crash and died shortly afterwards. A 15-year-old was also injured in the collision.
At Sheffield Crown Court today (January 20), Hamza Hussain, of Harney Close, Darnall, who was driving that night, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, as well as causing serious injury and driving while uninsured.
The Recorder of Sheffield, His Honour Judge Jeremy Richardson, told the 22-year-old the next time he appears in court he “will” go to prison.
The judge said: “Make no mistake, the sentence of the court will be imprisonment - the only issue for me to decide is for me to decide is how long that will be.”
Hussain will be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on February 13.
