Gun found among ditched knives in Sheffield knife amnesty bin
Bin was one of 11 across the city for safe disposal of knives
A gun was found among dozens of knives which were dropped in an amnesty ‘knife bin’ near to a Sheffield street where there was a shooting this week.
Police community support officers made the find when they emptied the bin, designed to take knives of the street and to make Sheffield safer, on Wolseley Street, earlier this month.
On neighbouring Fieldhead Road a gun was fired at a house this week.

South Yorkshire Police said that they recovered 32 knifes and an air pistol, adding they had all been safely disposed of.
It is one of 11 knife amnesty bins in the city, put in place to be used to dispose of any knives or bladed objects safely.
Knife amnesty bins can be found at Birley Moor Road, Frecheville; Halifax Road, Grenoside; Devonshire Green, city centre; Gaunt Shopping Centre, Blackstock Road; Pack Horse Lane, High Green; Wolseley Road, Sharrow; Handley Street, Burngreave; Bramall Lane; Lowedges Road, Sheffield; Stradbroke Drive, Stradbroke; and Tinsley Forum car park, Bawtry Road.
