Garry Hallows: Tributes paid to Sheffield dad killed on family holiday in Turkey

Tributes have been paid to a Sheffield dad killed during a family holiday in Turkey.

It is reported that Garry, aged 51 and from Upperthorpe, recently died during a holiday in the Siteler district of the popular holiday resort of Marmaris in Turkey.

The Foreign Office has confirmed it is involved in providing assistance both to the dead man’s family, and to the man, also reported to be British, who is being interviewed by Turkish police over the death.

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said: “We are providing consular assistance following an incident involving two British nationals in Turkey, and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Mr Hallows is reported to have been rushed to hospital on Sunday, and pronounced dead after suffering head injuries.

A man was later arrested by police in nearby Muğla, according to Turkish media reports.

In Sheffield, tributes have been paid to Garry in online social media posts.

Roselyn Wragg said Garry was “such a lovely guy”.

Angela Brown agreed and described him as a “nice guy” on Facebook.
