Furious pub car park argument ends in gunfire as police close two major roads

A police probe has been launched after a gun was fired following a row outside a Rotherham pub.

South Yorkshire Police said officers were alerted to reports of gunfire in Kimberworth just before 11pm yesterday.

It was reported to the force that shots were fired in High Street following an argument between two men on the car park of the Green Dragon pub.

As a silver car left the car park following the row, gunshots were heard.

No injuries have yet been reported to the police.

A police cordon was set up last night and remains in place today while forensic work is carried out as detectives piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting and attempt to establish who was involved.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called at around 10.56pm on Monday June 7 to reports of shots fired in High Street, Kimberworth.

“It is reported that an argument was witnessed between two men in the Green Dragon Pub car park. A silver car was then seen leaving the car park, before gunshots were heard.

“Police attended the scene and a cordon has been put in place whilst they investigate. No injuries have been reported to us at this time.

“Enquiries are underway to locate those involved.

“High Street and Meadowhall Road are currently closed whilst officers carry out their enquiries.”
