Firefighters tackle blaze as huge plumes of smoke spread across Sheffield

Firefighters are tackling a blaze in Sheffield this afternoon, with huge plumes of smoke spreading across the city.

Three fire engines have been deployed for crews to deal with the incident on Carlisle Street, Burngreave.

The alarm was raised just before 1pm and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze is a ‘scrap metal fire’.

No other details have yet been released but the fire is believed to have started at a scrap metal yard.
