At around 2.30pm on Wednesday afternoon (July 15) a cyclist was riding along the canal towpath at Tinsley when he passed a group of men on a bench.

Detective Constable Ryan Griffiths, investigating, described what happened next: “As the victim rode alongside the men, one of them grabbed his headphones, which pulled his mobile phone out of his pocket.

“The victim, shocked, stopped his bike and then attempted to ride away again, but was grabbed from behind. He was then headbutted by one of the group, who then took his bike and left the scene with the rest of the men.”
