Driver suffers serious head injuries after roundabout crash in Sheffield

A man was seriously injured when the car he was driving crashed into a roundabout in Sheffield.

The 26-year-old was driving a BMW which crashed on the Coisley Holl roundabout on the Mosborough Bypass yesterday.

He was cut free from the car and taken to hospital with a serious head injury.

He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

His passenger, a 26-year-old man, escaped with minor injuries.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Officers responded to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on the A57 yesterday, shortly after 5pm.“It is believed a black BMW was travelling along the road when it collided with a roundabout.

“The driver, a 26 year-old man, was freed from the vehicle.

“He was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the drink drive limit.

“The driver is being treated for a serious head injury. The passenger received treatment for minor injuries.”
