Driver ran away from scene after crashing his car into tram on Sheffield street

A police hunt is under way for a motorist who fled after a car was involved in a collision with a tram in Sheffield.

A grey Mercedes and a tram were involved in a smash on Holme Lane, Hillsborough, just before 6.50pm yesterday.

Emergency services were deployed, but the driver of the car had fled the scene.

South Yorkshire Police said: “The car has been recovered and enquiries are on-going.

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident number 804 of January 31.
