Cannabis farm found in Sheffield house after police respond to concerns for occupants

A cannabis farm was found in a Sheffield house after officers responded to concerns for the safety of the occupants.

South Yorkshire Police said concerns were raised about the welfare of the occupants of a house on Birley Spa Lane, Hackenthorpe, last Friday.

When officers arrived they found signs of forced entry to the property.

They also discovered around 100 cannabis plants at various stages of growth.

Fully mature plants have a value of around £1,000.

No arrests have yet been made.

South Yorkshire Police said: “An investigation is under way following the discovery of a cannabis set-up inside a property on Friday.

“Officers responded to a property in Birley Spa Lane after concerns were raised about the safety of the occupants.

“Prior to police arriving, someone had forced entry to the address.

“A cannabis set-up was found inside made up of 100 plants.”
