Kavan Brissett, aged 21, was stabbed in his heart on the Grammar Street car park, Upperthorpe, in August 2018.

Despite the efforts of medics at the scene and emergency surgery, the aspiring boxer could not be saved and died four days later.

Four men are accused of conspiracy to commit robbery on the night of the murder but nobody has yet been charged with the killing.

To mark the second anniversary of the murder, South Yorkshire Police re-appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Kavan’s loved ones also issued an appeal in which they said: “It saddens us that we must do a statement once again to try and get our boy the justice he deserves.

"This weighs very heavily on us as we try to put together our broken hearts so that we can live for him, although every day is still unbelievably difficult, and it still only feels like yesterday.

“We really hoped that he would have the justice he deserves by now, but unfortunately that is not the case. The turmoil we feel from not getting any justice for him adds to the grief we feel and know he himself is not resting how he should be.”

Detectives are keen to trace 31-year-old Ahmed Farrah, who is believed to hold vital information about the stabbing.

He was treated for facial injuries at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on the same night that Kavan was stabbed.

Detective Chief Inspector Jude Ashmore, leading the murder probe, said: “Following the second anniversary we received a number of calls regarding this case and I’d like to thank all those who took the time to get in touch with us.

“Our investigation continues and my team is as determined as ever to get Kavan’s family the answers and closure they so desperately need.

“If you have any information, no matter how small, regarding Ahmed Farrah’s whereabouts or anything else relating to Kavan’s death, please get in touch and tell us what you know.

“If you feel uncomfortable talking to us directly, you can contact Crimestoppers completely anonymously.”
