Brothers Zulkernain and Amaan Ahmed will be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on June 4, 2026, after being convicted of the roles they played in the killing.

Abdullah, aged 16, was innocently walking along Staniforth Road, Darnall, on June 4, 2025, when an Audi S3 - being driven by Zulkernain Ahmed - collided with him.

CCTV footage showed Ahmed dangerously manoeuvre the vehicle into the opposite carriageway in a deliberate attempt to collide with a moped and two electric bikes as part of a feud.

One rider was hit by the car, suffering serious injuries, before the Audi then hit Abdullah, who tragically was in the wrong place at the wrong time and entirely innocent.

Despite the best efforts of medical personnel at the scene, and at hospital, Abdullah sadly died the same day.

The Audi driven by 21-year-old Zulkernain failed to stop at the scene and was later found abandoned nearby on Robinson Avenue.

His brother Amaan, 27, was also in the car at the time of the collision.

The pair, both of Locke Drive, Darnall, were captured on CCTV running from the vehicle and returning to their home. They collected their passports and thousands of pounds in cash.

The brothers were apprehended in the early hours of the following day at the Port of Dover as they tried to flee the country.

Both men were charged with Abdullah's murder, which they denied.

After a five week trial, Zulkernain was found guilty of murder last week.

Amaan was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.

After the verdicts were delivered, Abdullah's family issued a heartwrenching statement.

They said: "Our son Abdullah was just 16-years-old, an innocent boy who had recently arrived from Yemen, full of hope for a safe, peaceful and productive life in England, when he was taken from us as a result of an ongoing feud that was nothing to do with him.

"We are devastated by our loss, but our faith gives us strength and we welcome the guilty verdict. We now ask for privacy as we grieve as a family. We wish to thank the witnesses for their courage , the good people of Darnall, the prosecution team and the police for their support during this unimaginably painful time."

Detective Chief Inspector Benjamin Wood, the Senior Investigating Officer in the case, said: "This was a heartbreaking case which was entirely avoidable. Abdullah was a completely innocent boy who had his whole life ahead of him.

"The reckless, reprehensible behaviour of Zulkernain and Amaan Ahmed has left a family facing the devastating reality of never seeing their son again. Our thoughts remain with them."

Both men have been remanded into custody ahead of their sentencing hearing.
