18-year-old Sheffield man arrested on suspicion of murder over Khuram Javed killing

The man, who has not been named, is currently in police custody after he was arrested in connection with the death of the 30-year-old solicitor earlier this month.

Police were called to Clough Road in Sheffield at 9.40pm on Saturday, April 10 following reports that a man had been shot.

Khuram Javed, 30, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. A post mortem concluded that he died of a gunshot wound.

The arrest brings the total number of arrests in the investigation to three.

Two men, aged 21 and 23, who were arrested on 12 April on suspicion of murder have since been released under investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Hakin said: “Mr Javed’s family continue to receive support from specially trained officers as we continue our enquiries into his death.

“I would like to reassure the community that our investigation is progressing at pace and we are continuing to explore and develop new lines of enquiry.

“We are still keen to hear from anyone who has information about Mr Javed’s death, you can call 101 quoting incident number 984 of 10 April.

“Alternatively, you can stay completely anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers via their website Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling their UK Contact Centre on 0800 555 111.”

In the days and weeks since he died, hundreds of tributes to the father-of-two have been left online and at the place where he was killed.

His funeral took place at Wolseley Road Mosque on Saturday.
