18-year-old arrested after machete attack at South Yorkshire boxing gym

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two men were allegedly attacked with machetes at a South Yorkshire boxing gym.

Police were called to Skellow Grange Boxing Club in Doncaster at 6.53pm on Thursday following reports that a group of men wearing balaclavas had entered the club carrying machetes and attacked two men.

The victims were taken to hospital with serious injuries, where they remain.

Police declared a major incident in the area following the attack, which they said was targeted. Roads near to the boxing club were sealed off with a large number of officers and ambulances at the scene.

On Saturday officers arrested an 18-year-old man from Doncaster on suspicion of attempted murder.

He is currently in police custody.
