Officers were called to Mauncer Crescent in Woodhouse at about 3pm this afternoon to reports of dog attack involving a girl.

Neighbours reported an extensive police presence in the area including armed police as well as the ambulance service.

One resident commenting on Facebook described the attack as ‘awful’ and said she ‘hoped the little girl was ok’.

However, police later said that the girl had suffered minor injuries only in the incident and that the dog had been taken to kennels.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called shortly before 3pm today (10 March) to reports that a girl had been bitten by a dog in Mauncer Drive, Sheffield.

“The 12-year-old suffered a minor injury in the incident and the dog was immediately signed over to police by its owner. It has now been taken to kennels.”
