Serial misogynist put “vulnerable” woman through five years of violence - puncturing her jaw with set of keys
He kicked her, gave her two black eyes, locked her out on a balcony while she was naked and placed her in headlocks
A serial misogynist who put a “vulnerable” woman through five years of violence - on one occasion puncturing her jaw with a set of keys - has been jailed.
Paul Sinclair, aged 37, placed his partner in “headlocks” on four occasions, causing her to pass out.
He kicked her, causing ligament damage; gave her two black eyes during a holiday in Portugal and locked her out on a balcony while she was naked.

When his traumatised other half refused to have sex with him, twisted Sinclair sent her a sickening video showing him “imitating” slashing someone’s neck with a kitchen knife.
Joseph Bell, prosecuting, told Sheffield Crown Court such was the monstrous defendant’s violence that his victim became “quite skilled at applying make-up to cover external bruising” and would tell others she had fallen and “hit her head”.
However in January this year she fled bully Sinclair while the pair were on holiday in Goa, India, returning to the UK to report him to the police.
A judge told Sinclair: “She is not to blame for any of this. There’s only one person to blame and that is you.”
Mr Bell described how the pair met in 2019 shortly after the death of the victim’s long-term partner” and not long after Sinclair moved into her home he became “violent”.
The first assault happened when he “objected” to her conducting a house viewing with two men - kicking her in the hip.
When she confronted unfaithful Sinclair about his womanising he punched her to the head and put her in a headlock until she “passed out”.
Mr Bell said: “This was not an isolated incident - over the course of the relationship he did this around four times. She didn’t always pass out but he would threaten to hit her or stab her to death.
“He was often violent towards her in the course of the relationship and she would tell other people she had fallen and hit her head - she became quite skilled at applying make-up to cover external bruising.
“During arguments she would try and leave but the defendant would follow her and throw objects - he installed cameras in their home and she never felt truly free to speak with her own family.”
Pathetic Sinclair would demand access to all of the complainant’s passwords so he could monitor her messages and would call her “thick” and “berate” her if she didn’t “dress up” for him.
Towards the end - in December last year - Sinclair caused a “puncture wound” to his poor ex’s jaw with a set of keys he was holding.
By January she had had enough and left him in Goa, India.
The court heard the defendant, of The Lanes, East Dene, Rotherham, had 16 previous convictions for 29 offences, including jail time for domestic violence.
Judge Sarah Wright, jailing the defendant for two-and-a-half years, told him: “It’s completely understandable that it took her a long time to finally separate from you and find the strength to report you to the police.
“Your behaviour left her feeling undervalued - she is understandably emotionally drained. You’ve left her feeling like a different woman and fearful of any future relationship.
“She is not to blame for any of this. There’s only one person to blame and that is you.”
In a letter to the court Sinclair spoke of his traumatic childhood, his remorse and having already engaged in therapy to address his violent offending.
However the judge added: “The author of your pre-sentence report quite rightly feels you are too great a risk to be managed in the community.
He admitted coercive control and actual bodily harm.
