Sheffield's vegan scene is about to be transformed by a unique, new cat cafe opening on Abbeydale Road.
Plans have been submitted to Sheffield City Council for a new vegan cat cafe on the former site of Pose beauty salon.
Herbipaws is all set to make its grand opening on Sunday, April 1, and owner Tom Greatorex said he's excited to bring another vegan cafe to Sheffield .
Vegan cafes and restaurants have blossomed in in Sheffield with Abbeydale Road already home to popular Burger Lols while Make No Bones and Just Falafs are proving successful on Chesterfield Road.
The cafe will be home to a number of vulnerable, rescue cats with Tom hoping the premise will inspire people to 'explore' the world of veganism.
He said: "Cat cafes are on trend. It's a new up and coming growing market that we want to connect to veganism. We want to pull in non vegans and get them on to the idea.
"My main goal is to spread veganism. Hopefully the cats will create an even bigger interest in a vegan cafe.
"The important thing is the cats are all going to be rescues. We are going to have cats who can't find a home, so focusing on the disabled and the blind.
"We're very excited with the location of the cafe as Abbeydale Road and London Road are so up and coming."
Tom is currently a director at the Doggy Den, a dog care centre in Sheffield, but said he is excited to be moving into the world of cats.
The plans are now with Sheffield City Council as officers inspect the health and safety aspects of Herbipaws but Tom is hopeful that the cafe will be open by the spring.
Tom, who has been vegan for the past two years, said he's excited to help improve Sheffield's vegan scene and spread awareness of the philosophy.
He said: "I've been vegan for two years and I want to show people how lovely it is. We want to spread the awareness of what the food industry is all about.
"It's unbelievable, Sheffield is going vegan crazy and I'm so proud. Heeley is a vegan paradise and Abbeydale Road already has three vegan cafes so we can't wait to get started."
