Watch as The Star is granted behind the scenes access as Tramlines organisers get ready for festival weekend

We got a look behind the scenes

Watch as The Star gains early access to the Tramlines 2026 festival site!

Whilst stages continue to be built, we have gained exclusive access to Hillsborough Park where the beloved, Sheffield festival will return for its 8th year at the site, this weekend.

Lauren Hague, caught up with joint-founder and organiser of Tramlines, Timm Cleasby to chat about how the festival came to be in 2009 with the help of Arctic Monkeys drummer, Matt Helders, whilst Cleasby was working as the legendary indie band’s tour manager.

What started as a more intimate event in the heart of Sheffield’s city centre has grown into one of the country’s most popular and exciting music festivals but Tramlines hasn’t forgot its roots...the festival still boasts its vast fringe festival across grassroots venues in Sheffield’s city centre, helping to support local venues through council funding as well helping to nurture Sheffield’s independent music scene and in true community spirit, it’s still completely free to attend!

The full timetable for the 2026 Tramlines fringe festival is here: https://www.welcometosheffield.co.uk/content/events/the-fringe-stage-at-devonshire-green-2026/.
