Non-essential shops had been closed since the lockdown began on March 23 but were allowed to open provided social distancing measures are in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Diane Jarvis, manager of Sheffield Business Improvement District (BID), said: “It’s important we do get the economy restarted while still balancing that with the requirements around public health.
“These businesses really do need a boost now and they really need to get back to trading as quickly as possible but in a safe manner.”
