Shops in England will be allowed to reopen from April 12, as Covid restrictions are further lifted.

When non-essential stores last reopened over Christmas, they were allowed to open around the clock to help them make up for lost trade and enable people to shop safely.

There were huge queues outside Primark at Meadowhall back then, as Primark opened non-stop for 40 hours.

This time, retailers are being allowed to trade from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, with the communities secretary Robert Jenrick claiming the move would help businesses to recover and customers to shop safely.

Responding to a query from a customer today, Meadowhall said its stores would be open from 10am-9pm Monday to Friday, 9am-8pm on Saturdays and 11am-5pm on Sundays.

But it advised visitors to check its website before travelling as individual store times may differ and it said it was ‘currently awaiting further confirmation’.
