The dog that no one wants - Rocky the 'goofy' crossbreed spends over two years waiting for a home

He’s the dog that no one wants

A goofy five-year-old crossbreed has spent more than two years for someone to give him a forever home.

Described as the “goofiest, silliest boy”, Rocky has endured a tricky start to his life.

Georgia Billam, Rehoming Leader at RSPCA Bawtry, Doncaster, said: “We all absolutely adore him and he makes us all laugh.

“Unfortunately, Rocky's life prior to being here at the centre was one in which he didn't get to enjoy many of the things that make life so exciting, and he has missed out on a lot of important socialisation because of this.

“Rocky, very typically of bigger dogs, is a large lad who sometimes doesn't know his own strength and size, and doesn't always have the best etiquette when it comes to meeting people and dogs - but with the right socialisation we are sure he can overcome this.”

Another dog with a tricky introduction to life is Kiki, a six-year-old crossbreed.

“Sweetheart” Kiki came into the care of the branch in an emaciated condition as part of a cruelty case.

Following the care of the team, she is now back to full health.

Georgia said: “Although she’s been through quite a lot in her life, Kiki has held onto her positivity every step of the way. Her resilience and joyful spirit have made her a firm favourite among staff and volunteers alike.

“Kiki is happiest when she has your full attention. She thrives on one-on-one time and will gladly soak up all the fuss and affection you’re willing to give.”

Meanwhile, the youngest of the bunch also in need of a home, Lurcher Bruce, is just one year old.

Georgia said: “Bruce is a lively lad looking for a fresh start. He's a clever, energetic boy with a lot of love and cheeky antics to give to the right family.

“Bruce is a young boy who still has a lot to learn about the world around him and needs a family who can dedicate time to his training and can help him become the well-mannered gent we know that he's more than capable of being.”

The appeal for homes comes as new data unveiled during the RSPCA’s Adoptober rehoming drive has revealed that frontline officers are dealing with an average 410 ‘multi-animal’ incidents - involving 10 or more every single month - an increase on 2025 which was a record breaking year.

New figures show out of the 3,280 multi-animal cases reported across England and Wales already this year - 1,468 were cat cases and 757 dog multi-animal incidents.

The charity is urging people to ‘adopt not shop’ as it reaches a capacity crisis and among some of the dogs in need of a home at the Bawtry
