Adopt a Dog Sheffield: 11 pups who need rescuing, including Pocket Bully found covered in bite scars

There are 11 dogs currently up for adoption at a Rotherham dog shelter.

Helping Yorkshire Poundies has taken in some pups under very sad conditions, but luckily they have a second chance at life now.

One of them, Kermit the Pocket Bully, was found covered in scars which the shelter believe to be bite wounds from other dogs.

Hazel the Mastiff sadly lost all of her puppies just before she was taken to the rescue centre.

We have rounded up photos of each dog below - could you be the one to give them a home?

"Hazel is a 16 month old Mastiff who is an amazing character and needs a very special home. She came into our care having just had a litter, who sadly all passed away. Poor Hazel was totally petrified, but has now made huge progress and has blossomed into a big, daft puppy. She is still very scared of the ‘big wide world’ and her tail tucks under when she’s out of her ‘comfort zone’ of the kennels, and will need slowly introducing to the world at her own pace. She makes us laugh every day with her antics!"

"Handsome Max is such a good boy. He is an 8 yrs old – his microchip states that he is an American Bulldog, but we suspect he also has some Boxer in his breeding. Max is so lovely – he is calm, happy and greets everyone with a bum wiggle. He is immaculately clean in his kennel, so appears to be fully housetrained. He LOVES snuggling up in a comfy bed and settles very well when left on his own. Max has come out of his shell recently and shown his playful side! He’s a sucker for a tennis ball, but isn’t interested in ‘fetch’ – once he has his ball, that’s his to keep!! He enjoys a walk, and walks well on lead, but will not need a massively active home. Max has shown no issues around other dogs, but isn’t assessed around cats. He can be rehomed with children aged 10+. We honestly can’t sing Max’s praises highly enough – he’s adorable, so well behaved and deserves a 5* home who will give him all the love in the world."

"Gigi is approx 2 years old and is an American Bulldog crossbreed – possibly with some Boxer in her breeding – she is not a very big girl and is medium to large in size. She’s such a gorgeous smushy faced girl with one blue eye. Gigi is a real character who is bouncy, playful, loves attention and loves nothing more than having a cuddle. She is totally clean in her kennel (she’s never had a single ‘accident’), so we think she will be fully housetrained. We’d love to find her a home who have some previous experience of Bulldogs/American Bulldogs who can give her all the love in the world – this is all she wants in life."

"Lovely Lurcher Scout is 7 years old and a real gentleman. His owner sadly passed away, leaving Scout needing our help. He is a chilled out boy who walks beautifully on lead, travels well, has been a very good boy around other dogs and has been happy meeting children out and about. He found being in a kennel overnight after we had left very stressful, so we think that he may have some separation anxiety, and will need a home where he isn’t left alone, at least until he is fully settled. Scout is a special boy who really deserves to find a 5* home after a very difficult past few weeks."
