Sheffield students to take the Three Peaks Challenge for MIND charity fundraiser

Two Sheffield students are taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge to help a mental health charity.

Alice Jackson and Anthony Ellul, both 20, have chosen to support the charity Mind by participating in the National 3 Peak Challenge.

They will cover Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and then Snowdon in one day to generate funds for the charity.

Biology student Alice said: "We’ve done a lot of walking. We’ve been to the Peak District a couple of times and we got really fit over lockdown.

“It is not only a physical challenge, but also a mental one. It will test our mental stamina to persevere through tough and difficult times it’s the perfect way to test ourselves.”

“We’re trying to raise £1,600 which I know sounds like a lot but we think the charity is really worthwhile.

“Mind is a mental health charity which supports individuals during difficult times of their lives and has played an important role in my life.

“Among my friends I see people needing help and struggling to get the full support they need."

They are aiming to complete their epic challenge on September 3.

The couple try and run three or four times a week, doing HIIT classes at home

“This weekend we walked 15k on the Saturday and 13K on the Sunday to build up endurance – it’s early days yet,” said Alice.

So far they have raised £564.
