Courts run by Sheffield Council can now be booked across the city for singles, doubles and private one on one lessons with an approved coach.

Courts are available for 55-minute bookings and only two players are allowed per court unless they are from the same household, in which case four players are allowed to play. Social distancing must be observed at all times between individuals from different households.

The 55-minute booking slots allow for a five minute ‘void’ period to enter or exit the courts. Clothing, gloves or a tissue should be used to open the gate.

Players should bring hand sanitiser to the courts and wash their hands before and after play, avoiding touching their face at all times. Rackets should not be shared and any stray balls should be tapped away with players’ feet, rather than their hands.

No handshakes should take place and players should avoid changing ends. If they switch sides, they should do so at opposite ends of the court.

To compensate for the five minutes less playing time, Parks Tennis is offering a seventh court booking for free. To claim, email [email protected] once you have made six bookings to request your discount code.

Bosses at one tennis club in Sheffield have warned ‘the fight for survival starts now’ despite being able to reopen.

Courts must be reserved in advance online at parkstennis.co.uk/sheffield.
