The Old Grindstone on Crookes is set to welcome customers back from Friday, June 11, and will be open from Friday to Sunday thereafter, as well as on Tuesdays throughout the rescheduled Euros 2020 football tournament.

Will McMahon and Adam Nur will be managing the pub, and say they want to make the pub as “accessible as possible,” with a drink offering that will include £5 cocktails and a value range that will see them sell pints for as little as £3.

"We want to bring some vibrance and fun back to the pub. It’s all about the people and the atmosphere, and making it a place people want to come,” explained Will.

The Old Grindstone has around 40 tables, nine of which will be set aside for bookings and are located next to the pub’s 60-inch television screens that will be showing live sport including Euros matches. This section will be located towards the back of the pub, in order to ensure those who do not want to watch sport can still enjoy the space.

Will says they will initially be looking to put on acoustic music, as well as open mic nights and poetry nights; and if punters respond well they will also look to book cover bands, local bands and touring artists.

"We’ve lost a lot of music venues in Sheffield so it’d be good if we can help reinvigorate things,” said Will.

The Old Grindstone is set to undergo a renovation from January to March next year that will also see them create an impressive beer garden terrace, making the most of the views of the city that can be seen from Crookes.

They also hope to update the kitchen during the renovation, but until then, customers will be invited to order takeaways into The Old Grindstone and will be provided with everything they need to dine in.

Will says the Old Grindstone team will put together a list of recommendations of Sheffield restaurants to choose from.

The Old Grindstone is owned by True North Brew Co who leased the premises to Stancill Brewery up until January this year.
