'Well-run' Sheffield takeaway, running for years, turned down for planning document
It means the council could potentially take enforcement action
A pizza takeaway has been turned down by Sheffield Council after bosses tried to get officials to confirm they had permission to operate at the site.
The council’s planning department has refused to issue a document called a Certificate of Lawfulness, which would have effectively given Parkway Pizza, at 120 Handsworth Road, assurances that they could keep operating from the site, which is just off the Sheffield Parkway’s Handsworth junction.

It means the council could potentially take enforcement action in the future over its use as a takeaway.
Officials stated in a report: “The Local Planning Authority considers that insufficient evidence has been submitted to demonstrate that, on the balance of probability, the site has been used as a hot food takeaway for a continuous period of 10 years required.”
They stated that pictures appeared to show the venue being used as a cafe until 2020.
The authority had publicised the application, and received mixed comments from locals, four supporting it being used as a takeaway, and four opposed.
Those in support described how well run it was and how friendly the people who ran it were, while those opposed to it raised concerns over parking.
