Chinese New Year 2022: Best supermarket meal deals at Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons and Aldi

The event is celebrated in colourful style not just in China but around the world, and there are plenty of Chinese New Year meal deals available at the supermarkets to help you get in the spirit.

Here are some of the best.

Tesco

Tesco has a three for £6.50 Clubcard offer on a range of ready meals, including its 400g chicken chow mein, priced individually at £2.75.

There are also Clubcard savings on a number of items running until February 15, including Sharwoods medium or fine egg noodles, both available at £1.20 with a 30p discount.

There is 10p off a 60g bag of prawn crackers, available for 90p; and Amoy Light Soy Sauce 150ml is reduced from £1.40 to £1.

Its Stir Fry Meal Deal means customers can get one stir fry vegetable, one noodle and one sauce for £2.50.

A Tesco 16 Piece Chinese Style Selection 322G is reduced by 75p to £2, a Tesco Crispy Aromatic Half Duck 510G is reduced from £7 to £5, and a Tesco Chicken & Blackbean & Sweet & Sour Chicken Meal Box 1.14Kg is available for £5 rather than £7.50.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s has a raft of Chinese New Year offers, both for those wanting to keep things simple and for keen amateur cooks planning to whip up something delicious from scratch.

You can pick up its Sainsbury's Chinese Takeaway Selection 1.283kg (Meal for 2) for £7 rather than £8, Sainsbury's Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice 400g (Meal for 1) is reduced by 50p to £2.30, and a pack of four Sainsbury's Vegetable Spring Rolls is down from £1.75 to £1.50.

Sharwood's Medium Egg Noodles 340g are priced £1.25 – a saving of 50p; Sharwood's Sweet & Sour Cooking Sauce 425g is reduced by 60p to £1.25; and shoppers can save 45p on Sharwood's Hoi-Sin & Spring Onion Stir Fry Sauce 195g, available for £1.

Asda

Asda’s top RollBack offers for Chinese New Year include 4 Vegetable Spring Rolls for £1.00 (reduced from £1.15), ASDA Chicken Chow Mein for £3.50 (was £2.75), and ASDA Egg Fried Rice for £1 (was £1.60).

A 640ml bottle of Tiger Asian Lager, priced £2, is included in its four-for-the-price-of-three offer.

Its ASDA 14 Piece Oriental Platter is reduced from £2.80 to £2.50, Sharwood's Medium Egg Noodles are part of its two-for-£2 offer, and there is 75p off ASDA Battered Chicken with Sweet & Sour Sauce, which is available for £2.75.

Morrisons

At Morrisons, there is up to £1.25 off a range of Chinese dishes.

Its Morrisons Chinese Duck Spring Rolls 240g and Morrisons Chinese Chicken Spring Rolls 240g are both reduced from £2.75 to £2; Morrisons Sweet Chilli Chicken 390g, priced £4, is part of the two-for-£6 deal; and shoppers can save 60p on Morrisons Takeaway Chinese Egg Fried Noodles 250g, which are available for £1.

The biggest savings are on Morrisons Chinese Special Fried Rice 350g and Morrisons Takeaway Beef In Black Bean 350g, both of which have been reduced from £3.75 to £2.50.

Aldi

Aldi has 35 products featured in its Chinese New Year range.

They include its Ready, Set…Cook! Meal Kit Teriyaki Beef Stir Fry 500g, priced £3.29; the Ready, Set…Cook! Meal Kit Chinese Chicken Stir Fry 650g, also costing £3.29; and its Nature's Pick Oriental Stir Fry 320g, priced 95p.

Basic ingredients include Asia Specialities Dark Soy Sauce 150ml and Asia Specialities Light Soy Sauce 150ml, both priced 49p; Asia Specialities Chinese Style Curry Cooking Sauce, for 63p; and Asia Specialities Medium Egg Noodles 250g, also priced 69p.

For vegans, its Plant Menu No Beef Teriyaki Strips 200g are priced £1.75.

Lidl

Lidl is not publicising any special Chinese New Year deals but has its usual range of ingredients, like soy sauce and noodles.
