9. Magnificent Moss Valley
The Moss Valley is a beautiful rural area described as a 'hidden gem' just outside of Sheffield. The ancient woodlands, the River Moss and wildflower meadows all make this area a lovely spot for a walk. You can even find routes that drop you off at The Bridge Inn pub in Ridgeway village if you're feeling peckish. Visit Sheffield the Outdoor City or wildsheffield.com websites for more walk ideas here. Photo: David Tierney

10. Walking Wincobank
Wincobank Hill is a glorious spot in Sheffield, which even boasts an Iron Age hill fort. There's a great walk online that starts at Upper Wincobank Chapel on Wincobank Avenue that offers some parking options. Find the instructions by Googling 'Wincobank woodland walk'. While you're at it, Google Mary Anne Rawson to find out more about this amazing 19th-century anti-slavery campaigner from Wincobank Hall. Photo: Sarah Washbourn
