Of course, we could not do a list with everyone who is famous from the Steel City, but here are some people you know and some you may be surprised to know lived or worked in our great city.
5. Kell Brook
The 33-year-old-professional boxer from Sheffield held the IBF welterweight title for three years and has challenged once for a unified middleweight title in 2016. At regional level he held the British welterweight title from 2008 to 2010. the born and bred Sheffield lad has also been the victim of two stabbings, one in the city and one while on holiday. 6. Charles Clegg
Sir John Charles Clegg born in 1850 better known as Charles Clegg, was an English footballer and later both chairman and president of the Football Association. He was born in Sheffield and lived there his whole life. He competed in the first international match between England and Scotland in 1872. Photo: Submitted
7. Sean Bean
Sean Bean was born on 17 April 1959 in Handsworth, in 1975, Sean left Brook Comprehensive School and started a job at a supermarket. While at Rotherham College he became interested in art and then drama and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in January 1981. He then became a star on screen and on stage and is now a household name for his roles in Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and Troy. Photo: Yorkshire Post
