Sheffield's coronavirus death toll updated as another 383 fatalities are recorded in England

Sheffield’s coronavirus death toll has risen again, according to the latest figures from NHS England.

In 227 hospital patients have died in Sheffield after contracting Covid-19 – an increase of five since yesterday.

According to the Office for National Statistics, another 126 care home residents in Sheffield had died from the virus as of April 24.

The latest figures out today show that 22,432 hospital patients have died across England after testing positive for coronavirus since the pandemic began.

There have been 122 deaths in Rotherham, 110 in Doncaster and 96 in Barnsley.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his cabinet are meeting today to discuss the lockdown measures currently in place in the UK.

He is then set to address the nation on Sunday, giving a ‘road map’ of how the measures will gradually be relaxed.

The lockdown was put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
