In a message to parents, seen by The Star, Forge Valley School headteacher Dale Barrowclough said he had been notified this morning (Tuesday, October 20) that a member of the school’s catering team had tested positive for the virus.

"This has resulted in me deciding to close the school kitchen for the reminder of the week,” he said.

"This is not because of the risk posed to pupils, but because the catering team are required to self-isolate.”

Parents were informed of the situation and the school closed in a ‘staggered way’ from 12.15pm so that the kitchen and ‘entire dining area’ could undergo a deep clean.

“Pupils need to bring a packed lunch, including enough fluid for the day, to school each day this week,” added Mr Barrowclough.

"I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.”
