Over three days from October 2, Glen Hartley and Jon Fish will cycle over 170 miles in support of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND Association) and Andy’s Man Club, a charity supporting men’s mental health.

The  ‘Pedal to Puck’ challenge is marked by three ice arenas and follows a circular route around Hull, Sheffield and Leeds.

The pair, based in Hull, will arrive at iceSheffield on Friday (October 2) after cycling 70 miles.

Mr Hartley said: “We're hoping for as many people as possible to come and support us at the finish points on each day, especially in Hull for our final day.”

  • Day One -  The challenge begins on October 2, a 70 mile stretch from Hull Ice Arena to iceSheffield for Sheffield Steeldogs vs Telford Tigers at 7:30pm.
  • Day Two - The pair will cycle 30 miles, from Sheffield to Leeds on October 3, for Leeds Knights vs Peterborough Phantoms where they face off at 6:30pm.
  • Day Three - The final leg of the route is on October 4, 65 miles from Leeds to Hull for Hull Seahawks vs Basingstoke Bisons at 5:30pm.

On the second day, the route will overlap with Sir Kevin Sinfield’s seven in seven challenge, who has raised over £11 million for MND charities.

Motor-Neuron Disease (MND) is a life-shortening condition that damages the nervous system by attacking motor neurones in the brain and spinal cord. It currently carries no cure.

In September 2025, after a lengthy diagnosis Mr Hartley’s father, Paul Hartley, was diagnosed with Bulbar MND, which impacts speech and swallowing.

Mr Hartley, 32, said: “We both want to support those living with and around MND and men's mental health, so these are causes very close to our hearts.”

He added: “As much as we are Seahawks fans, no matter what your team or sport, we're all in the fight against MND and we want to support everyone we can with regards to mental health.”

Leeds Knights have invited the pair onto the ice, despite their friendly rivalry with Hull Seahawks. Mr Hartley said: “It proves off the ice we can come together to celebrate achievements and support each other.”

This Sunday, Mr Hartley and his Father will be joining Sir Kevin Sinfield for an ‘extra mile’ bike ride at Costello Stadium, while he continues fundraising.

Mr Hartley and Mr Fish have currently raised £450 out of a targeted £1000. You can find the ‘Pedal to Puck’ fundraiser here
