Part of central London has been evacuated this morning following a security alert at a city hospital.

Bystanders said they have been moved away from the hospital and armed guards have been seen.

The hospital is close to Westminster.

In a tweet, Lambeth Police said: “Police are dealing with a security alert at St Thomas’ Hospital, SE1.

“We will provide further info when known.”
