Yobs were filmed on a mobile phone shooting fireworks at passing cars, taxis and vans on Saturday night.

They were captured holding the fireworks like guns and deliberately aiming them at passing vehicles.

Although South Yorkshire Police has been made aware of the footage circulating on social media, none of the victims came forward to report the firework attacks.

South Yorkshire Police said: “We are aware that footage is circulating on a social media account of fireworks being thrown on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield, reportedly from this weekend.

“We would ask those who are posting this footage to please share this with us and report the incident by calling 101 or online via the SYP website.

“The details of the incident shown on the footage have been passed to the local neighbourhood teams responsible for the area.

“The information will help shape their patrol plans as we approach the darker nights.

“Fireworks are dangerous and can have catastrophic consequences on people’s safety and property, as we approach bonfire night we are urging parents to talk to their children about the dangers.”

South Yorkshire Police has dealt with over 100 reports of firework incidents in the county over the last week.

One incident involved a large group of youths hurling fireworks at each other on Devonshire Green in Sheffield city centre.

Fireworks have also been set off in gennels between homes.
