The £25,000 renovation, which took four weeks, was completed free of charge thanks to the generous support of several businesses, most notably Kier Specialist Services.

Planning for the project began in August 2018 and it is hoped the new space will boost The Children’s Hospital Charity’s appeal to build a new emergency department, helipad and cancer and leukaemia ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

David Vernon-Edwards, director at The Children’s Hospital Charity said: “Since our charity hub first opened in November 2018, it has been invaluable in strengthening our relationships with staff, patients and their families, bringing our team closer to the Sheffield Children’s community we serve.

“While this is not the opening we all envisioned, I would like to say a huge thank you to Kier and all the other businesses from across the region that have supported this project.

“This renovated, purpose-built space will aid our efforts to transform the facilities at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.”

As well as serving as an important point of contact for fundraising enquiries, it will also house a new and improved range of stock, including bespoke merchandise and hoodies featuring the charity’s mascot, Theo Bear.
